How are spot starters handled in the league? I have 2 RPs with some starts.

i believe you can use those starts, but the innings count against your innings total, whereas with starters it's entirely about the number of starts you have and innings don't matter.
someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

Ron's 100% correct:
Starting pitchers only = can only be used for the exact amount of starts they had; no innings pitched limitations.
Relievers only = Can be used for the exact amount of innings dictated on their card PLUS 10% additional innings pitched as an overage. You cannot exceed the 10% however, or penalty will occur. Relievers with no starts cannot start at all.
Starter/Relievers = In this case, this is the owner's discretion. If you choose to use a pitcher who pitched both as a starter and in a relief role, you have a few options:
1) Use him as a reliever only; as such, the rules for relievers above applies.
2) Use him as a starter only; as such the rules for starters above applies.
3) Use him for his exact amount of starts as a starter PLUS also hold him to the innings pitched restrictions that are applied to relievers.
Hope this helps.
PS - When it comes to hitters, they are bound not by the MLB Players' At Bats, but their Plate Appearance totals, PLUS a 10% PA allowance, like relievers get. So if a hitter had 500 PA in MLB in 2008. you would be allowed to use him for 550 PA without penalty. Anything over 550 and a penalty is applied, so be careful when it comes to the overages.

Crystal clear on this, thanks! I guess when I draw up instructions I will have to declare, for the length of a series at least, how to use the spot starters. The matter of overage is well understood.
